The Ones Who Sinned
11/6/02

The world is so wrapped in sin
It’s entangled in a snare
It’s caught in a trap

In this world lies rule over truth
There is no justice
Only deception and dissention

Women prostitute themselves to men
The men go in wanting to get layed
They only come out with more emptiness than before

There is corruption in the government
Disorder among the people
The death of the righteous is approved

There is no peace in this world
There is no liberty or freedom
Only the constant return to sin

There is one man though
One man who lived a worthy life
One man who lived as holy

He was not from this world
He was from a land so far from here
This man was an alien

Though superior he was a servant
Though like a God
He did not rule over the world

This man came to die
Not live
He came to give his life

He lived to die
He died to live
This he did for the sinners

He was nailed down for the entangled
Beaten for the dead
He was judged for the unjust
Sentenced to death for the murderers

This man
He was polluted with sin for those who fornicate
Handed to the father of lies for those who act in pretence
Traded for money by corrupt leaders

He died
Crucified on a cross of wood
Bloody nails through his arms and feet
A crown of thorns on his head

Rejoice
This is not the end
As he died human souls were ransomed
Sins were erased
Debts were canceled

Rejoice
On the third day he rose from the dead
On the holy day human lives were rescued from the grave
His ascension into heaven
A foreshadowing of human lives in the resurrection

Who were these human lives
These people whom he saved
They were the ones who killed him
The ones who sinned
This was not another world
The ones who sinned are us

I once heard an anti-Semitic voice, "The Jews should die – they killed Jesus!" I don't quite remember if I responded this way, or if I thought of it later and never said anything to him. What I would say is that we all killed Jesus. Sure the Jews brought the death sentence upon him, but that was going to happen no matter what. The truth is that if we wouldn't have sinned, he wouldn't have died for us. Christians must remember that we are all sinners, and we are only saints by his grace.
