In the newest Star Wars epic (episode III) Anakin Skywalker has a discussion with Senator Palpatine discussing the differences and similarities between the two major powers in the galactic world: Jedi and Sith. In this discussion, Palpatine the enemy, tells the truth, but uses in a twisted way to lure Anakin into a trap, the Sith and the Jedi are both similar in their quest for more power (my paraphrase). However, Anakin responds to him that the jedi are selfless and only use their power to do good for others (again my paraphrase). What a great illustration. Perhaps they should have used that in The Message: Remix (Luke chapter 4 or 5?) when Jesus was being tempted in the dessert (just a suggestion). Jesus was called to the same selfless acts, but Satan wanted Jesus to give himself up to people. Imagine Jesus' power on the side of evil (how terrible), but he decided to be selfless. This is what he calls us to, and yes we are in a battle, an epic. Good versus evil and Jedi versus Sith, where those stuck in the middle don't know that there is a war going on. We are to be the selfless Jedi taking on the powers of darkness, the Sith, with a love that can not be destroyed. This of course cannot be done without the Holy Spirit acting as an empowering agent in our lives. That is why Jesus ascended, because I was going to come in the form of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost as in Acts chapter 2. Who is called to save the world, people who die to themselves, becoming self less by the blood of Jesus Christ, by his Grace, and through faith: in other words Christians! However heinous that may sound. If that is what a Christian is, that is what a Christian is commissioned to do.
