What's Wrong With This Picture?

Just as a little side note, this is not a bash on the Catholic Church. Just about every detail in this picture is completely symbolic, including the script, so I'm not singling out any particular denomination or church group. Instead, this is aimed at all churches asking people to think about all the legalities that we glorify in our denominations even above scripture. Of course that is not the whole gist of the picture. Anyways, take for example the "eleventh commandment" could also have been something like "Thou Shalt Not Heal on the Sabbath," something that related more to Jesus' time than now. I think that it is so funny that many Christians, and even myself have talked about how the Pharisees invented laws to keep them from breaking "the Law" and how it wasn't the way God intended us to live, bound by such things. Yet, often times we have been guilty of obeying or believing in such kinds of denominational laws that would have had the same place as the Pharisees' laws Jesus' day.

Events

Date: April 14th 2007

Event: Community Worship/Fundraiser Event

Purpose: Unit the community of greater BG for a common purpose if only for a few hours. Raise money for Urbane Nights, a group of halfway houses in Toledo who help rehabilitate drug and alcohol addicts and returning convicts.

Time: Not yet determined

Place: Not yet determined, but possibly the BG High School

Expectations: Big, very big. We are hoping the event will be able to pay off one house. I can't wait. Hopefully I will be able to find someone to go up to Toledo with me on Saturday. If not I really don't feel comfortable going.

Other recent events, good times on Tuesday nights at the Dilbones, last night some of us prayed for Sara's dad. He was experiencing some serious spiritual attacks. Hopefully one of my roommates, Micah, will accept Jesus soon. We have been talking about reading the bible together like an LTG. Dad has cellulitis again, but it's getting better. God is good.

Anti-Christ Oui Ou Non?

Anti-Christ Oui Ou Non?
(from a media lead sheet of the February addition of Newsweek magazine)

RELIGION: "He Calls Himself God" (p. 55). Miami Bureau Chief Arian Campo-
Flores reports on Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda, the head of the Growing in Grace
International Ministry, a sprawling organization that includes more than 300
congregations in two dozen countries. He counts more than 100,000 followers and
claims to reach millions more through a 24-hour TV channel, a radio show and
several Web sites. And when he enters a congregation, he is introduced as Jesus
Christ himself. Though de Jesus' followers worship him, others denounce him as a
charlatan and even call his ministry a cult. Everyone, however, agrees on one
thing: his teachings are incendiary.

I read the whole article this morning, and though I don't really trust the media to give you things entirely in context, I was still astonished at what I read. As said in the article this man has himself announced as Jesus the savior, claims that Jesus integrated himself with him, and just recently claimed himself the anti-Christ, revealing a 666 tattoo on his forearm. His reasoning is that since he is the new savior people should worship him and stop worshiping Jesus of Nazareth. Indeed as the article states, people chant "Lord! Lord! Lord!" as he walks onto stage.
Surely he is the personification of the anti-Christ attitude and is most definitely an anti-Christ, but could he be the anti-Christ? Accourding to other articles and interviews it seems that he really wants to be the anti Christ. He dreams of creating one world government where everyone worships him. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
